DNA sequencing

The Geneblitz® DNA sequencing service is pleased to offer you a choice of various levels of sequencing service, depending on your requirements.
1. Economy – quick and reliable short reads (up to 500bp)
2. Premium – longer reads, primer walking
3. Regulatory – for publications, validations and regulatory requirements
1) Economy
Our economy DNA sequencing service is performed on ABI CE genetic analysers (Big Dye terminator®™ technology) within the Geneblitz® laboratories. The Economy service is ideal for PCR product sequencing, “quick” checks of mini-prep DNAs or indeed, any screening experiments where sequencing is required.
The table below outlines the concentrations and volumes of DNA and primers* we would prefer to receive for our economy sequencing service:
Sample type: |
Concentration needed: |
Volume needed: |
Miniprep |
100-300ng/ul |
15ul |
PCR Product |
50ng/ul |
5-10ul |
Primers |
10pmol/ul |
10ul |
*Please remember when sending in samples by post to use a jiffy bag or bubble wrap to protect them.
Important Information:
-
In our Economy sequencing service we do not perform quality control of your sample. It is therefore most important that you include the quantity of DNA provided on the request form and an agarose gel picture if at all possible!
-
We hold a comprehensive range of the most frequently used universal primers on site such as M13 forward, M13 reverse, T7 promoter, T7 terminator, T3 and SP6. These are supplied free of charge.
-
Turnaround time on economy sequencing is between 24 and 72 hours from receipt of your samples (so long as they reach our facilities before 10:30am on the 1st working day).
-
Data is sent to you by email in the format of your choice. Pr9int outs can be provided for a small additional charge
-
The economy sequencing service is charged at £ 9.50/sequence, exc. VAT. Please note: If you are a VAT exempt client, please remember to send in your VAT exemption certificate with your first order.

2) Premium/Primer walking
Our Premium DNA sequencing service is ideal for:
primer walking projects
-
when you require highly accurate DNA sequence for publication presentations or database submission
-
when you need quality values for each base
-
confirming SNPs in a region of interest or candidate disease gene
As part of the Premium service -
We undertake quality control of the template via agarose gel electrophoresis. This allows us to calculate accurately the quantity of DNA to use, which in turn helps to optimise the sequencing reaction. We will notify you immediately of there are any problems with either the quantity of quality of template provided.
We hold a comprehensive range of the most frequently used universal primers on site such as M13 forward, M13 reverse, T7 promoter, T7 terminator, T3 and SP6. These are supplied free of charge
Quality values for each base are also available, so if you’d like this data just mark this in the “preferred format” column of the Premium sequencing request form.
-
In addition data can also be sent SCF, FASTA, plain text and other formats. Just ask a member of staff for further details.

3) Regulatory
This service is designed for those who require very high quality sequencing (minimum 4 fold coverage of each base) of plasmids/viral vectors etc. It is specifically designed for regulatory purposes. Typical applications include:
Release testing of viral products, DNA or RNA
-
Vaccine lot sequencing
-
Genetic stability testing of cell banks producing recombinant proteins or monoclonal antibodies
-
Independent validation of new assays based on DNA diagnostics such as clinical genetic tests or pharmacogenetic tests
-
Complete vector and transgene sequencing of Gene Therapy products
All work is performed according to the company’s controlled SOPs/WIs and under the guidance of an assigned project manager.
Projects are treated strictly on a case by case basis. For more information please fill in the contact form or call on +44 (0) 1919 516 6500 to speak with a scientist.
